Even Singapore Airlines is Discounting

Filed under: Uncategorized — Chris @ 7:04 pm

(Biz or leisure…$1100 includes air, 3 nights at 4-star hotel in Singapore, bus transfers, all taxes, fees and fuel surcharges)
It’s rare that you ever see Singapore Air getting into the discounting game, but they are doing just that— but doing it sideways…. through a travel agency instead of directly on their site or in their ads.  This deal’s good any day of the week between now and May 24 so it works for business or leisure trips. The deal is booked via Sayang Holidays and includes round trip travel from SFO or LAX in coach on Singapore (even in coach, Singapore Airlines shines far and above competitors.) The hotel in Singapore is Hotel Re—which gets good reviews on TripAdvisor as a sort of funky cool and convenient place. If you drop $200 more, you stay at the more lavish Meritus Mandarin in Singapore’s shopping belt (Orchard Road). We called Sayang and asked what the TOTAL cost of this trip would be (since the advertised price of $999 has that worrisome * next to it). The agent said that fuel surcharges are included, but that additional taxes run about $100 to $125 bringing the walk-away rate to about $1100. Still, RT air on Singapore and 3 nights at a hotel, plus transfers for $1100 per person? That’s dirt cheap! We checked the SIA site and found flights alone running $925.
